Our Difference

At Stretton Early Years and Kindergarten, we are a local, family-owned and operated Centre, so we truly understand what families on Brisbane’s southside need to thrive. Located within an Educational Precinct and in close proximity to many local schools, our service provides a warm, inclusive, safe, and fun learning environment for children aged 15 months through to Kindergarten.

We proudly meet the National Quality Standards under the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority framework, and our highly qualified team is handpicked, holding Diplomas or actively working toward further qualifications. Our two Kindergarten Teachers bring university-level expertise, with one qualified through a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and the other through a Masters in Teaching.

As a proud nature-play service, outdoor learning and connection to the natural world sit at the heart of our curriculum. We regularly engage in Nature Play programs guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, embedding sustainability, loose parts, and child-led discovery into everyday learning across all environments. We champion the philosophy of “risky play,” using loose parts daily such as natural materials, repurposed objects, and open-ended resources to promote creativity, resilience, problem-solving, collaboration, and a deep sense of belonging. Through intentional supervision above required ratios, thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces, and strong partnerships with families and the community, we ensure every child feels supported, safe, and empowered as they discover, learn, and grow.

That means we’re able to offer two Government Approved Kindergarten programs, with qualified teachers in each room.

And we’re proud to be a multi-cultural Early Years and Kindergarten, with around 97 different cultures represented amongst our 130 families and staff. Some of our staff are also bi-lingual (speaking Mandarin, Hindi, Korean, and Cantonese), which can be very helpful and reassuring to families where English isn’t their first language.

Your child will love our Numerous Free learning programs throughout the year. Including in service experiences such as Henny Penny Hatching, , as well as excursions.

All these in service experiences and excursions take place at no extra cost.

Nutritious meals are also included every day at no extra cost, made fresh onsite by our resident cook. And we can cater to all allergies and religious dietary requirements. We also endeavour to be a nut and egg free Centre.

We’ve created an online community for our families, using OWNA. It’s where families can connect and you can see what your child has been up to each day at Stretton Early Years and Kindergarten. Including the projects they were involved with, learning stories and photos of their activities, so you always know what they’re learning and how they’re interacting. It’s a great conversation starter between you and your child at home.

OWNA is also where you’ll find parent information and announcements, so you’re always up-to-date with upcoming events and activities. The OWNA community is only open to Stretton Early Years and Kindergarten families, to ensure privacy.
